Tool # 11

It is hard to choose only a few from such vast collection of tools available but I will list some of the tools I will definitely use in my classroom:
   1) Google Documents: because it allows for collaboration
   2) Wall Wisher: Because it help to keep track of student’s thinking
   3) Animator: because it enhances digital productions such as students records
   4) Wordle: Because it helps students practice vocabulary and typing skills

How have I transform my thinking about learning that will take place in my classroom? Well, we are in a technology driven world where information is available at finger tips. My classroom has been transformed in the following ways:
   1) I feel better prepare to work with 21st century learners
   2) I have resources to differentiate my instruction
   3) I know how to utilize the resources my district provides
   4) I am more confident in my practice
   5) I understand the value of technology in everyday life

My vision in my classroom changed by preparing students for the future by showing them how to problem solve and become independent learners.

TOOL # 10

1. Three things I would want to make sure students understand about being good digital citizens:
_ Never share personal information
_ To always find reliable information
_ Think before posting or texting
2. One of the resources I plan to use is brainpop jr. video to show students the importance of understanding good digital citizenship.
3. I would "teach" the idea of digital citizenship to my students by first introducing the concept through the video, and modeling the appropriate/inappropriate way to be a digital citizen. Lastly, create an anchor chart/poster for student's future use.
4. As to teach parents the idea of digital citizenship I would share with them the great opportunity for students to explore this new type of learning and assuring them, that students will become a good digital citizen.

TOOL # 9

  1. Technology not only serves as a method of teaching but also to motivate student's learning. It is essential for teachers and students to constantly use it effective.
  2. Students must be accountable for their stations/centers. Students need to be aware that everything they do in the classroom is an essential part of reaching their objectives.
  3. Mangahigh and Thinkfinity are two interactive sites that caught my attention. Both of these have accountability piece to it. It is very kid friendly but tied to our 2nd grade objectives. Mangahigh will become part of my math stations.
  4. There are so many great apps out there that I would use for sure.  I can read light - great for beginning of the year to introduce English Reading to our bilingual students, Everyday mathematics- to practice and review place value... As to how I plan to make students accountable for their time in these stations, they would have to record their activity in their workstation folder. If that's not possible, then they would have to write a reflection about what they did.
  5. Other ways to use the iPod Touch/iPad is for a preview for an upcoming lesson. For my strugglers students I could have them watch a brainpop jr. video beforehand, so they can be exposed to the content before I teach the lesson. This way these students could feel confortable participating, understanding and hopefully even teaching their partners.

TOOL # 8

I learned how to sync the Ipad to the computer and I also found this cool website "teach with your ipad" - basically, it lists apps according to blooms taxonomy which I think is great to make sure our students are progressing through the blooms using their technology.

As my management plan, I plan to explain procedures and expectations like everything else and assigned 2 students to be in charge of technology to support their peers as needed.

TOOL # 6

I created a bulletin board in wallwisher. I find it very interactive and I know students will enjoy posting their thought in here. I made this sample:

I also created an account in diigo.  I still have to play more with this but I think it's a great tool to use and share great resources.

TOOL # 5

This summer my students and I had a really inquiry group, learning but specially applying all these technology tools which are great. Some of the ones we used were: magazine cover, wordle, trading cards, animoto, mozaic maker, PicNic etc..
Two products I created were:

Wordle: This is so simple to create but can be very powerful, fun,
and attractive for students.  In this case I made a wordle for Subtraction with key facts.

Trading Card:  This is another great and simple tool to use with our students.  This could be used for the beginning of the year to introduce ourselves. Also for researching any concept.
